Advancement
of technology made the learning process easier. Throughout the years of being
students in bachelor of English Language and Literature, many subjects that we
had taken were eased with the assistance from application of computers. These may
refer to the usage of Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation, video editing
software, text editor and others. The programmes mentioned did not only provide
us with excellent medium for language learning but they also acted out as modus
operandi in sharing information.
One
of the subjects that requires the usage of computer application was World
Literature taught by Dr. Madihah. In an assignment given by Dr. Madihah, we
were tasked to prepare presentation slideshows on themes, provide summary of
each chapters in a novel and present the outcomes to the whole class
afterwards. Interestingly, for the assignment, we were using integrative approach of computer assisted
learning whereby the assignment was task-based. A computer was used as a tool
in order to complete the task, particularly in the process of making the
presentation slideshow using Microsoft PowerPoint. When the slideshows were
completed, we were required to upload them on Padlet; a website that provides a
medium for the students to interact with the lecturer and fellow classmates in
real-time, similarly to Google Docs. This means that the assignment included a
two-way communication where the slideshows uploaded on Padlet can be accessed
by others and presented later to the class. The assignment was overall
interactive, task-based and hence making the language learning viewed from an
integrative approach.
